Override Violence Project

Override Violence: Rewiring Communities Through Prevention, Connection, and Action

Violence affects individuals, families, and entire communities. While many focus on responding after violence occurs, the Override Violence Project is dedicated to prevention, education, and positive community engagement before violence takes root.

The Override Violence Project combines community outreach, cultural arts, mentorship, wellness education, and neuroscience-based learning to help young people develop healthy coping skills, positive relationships, and stronger decision-making abilities. Through connection and support, we can create environments where youth feel valued, heard, and empowered.

Violence prevention is not the responsibility of one person or one organization. It requires families, educators, faith-based organizations, community leaders, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and residents working together toward a common goal. By building positive opportunities and strengthening community connections, we can help reduce risk factors and promote healthier outcomes for future generations.

The Healing Hearts Foundation of Berks County believes that prevention begins with awareness, preparation, and action. Through community events, workshops, peace walks, youth engagement activities, and educational programming, the Override Violence Project encourages individuals to become active participants in creating safer neighborhoods.

Together, we can help rewire negative cycles, strengthen communities, and inspire hope. Every conversation, every act of kindness, and every opportunity provided to a young person has the potential to make a lasting impact.
